Yu Tai Hing Company Limited was established in 1966 by its founder, Mr. Lo Shiu Tong, as a limited property development company. The name “Yu Tai Hing” is derived from a combination of his father’s name "Yu" and " Tai Hing " meaning peace and prosperity. Mr. Lo began by expanding his family's pawn business, which includes Woo Cheong Pawn Shop in Wan Chai. Mr. Lo shifted his business into real estate development in the 1960s. In the early years, he started his real estate business by acquiring and redeveloping old buildings, he then went on to build residential, detached houses, stores, office buildings, and hotels.

Since its inception more than 50 years ago, Yu Tai Hing Company Limited has developed and sold more than 200 properties throughout Hong Kong. In addition, Yu Tai Hing Company Limited was involved in major infrastructure and heritage conservation projects in the 1970s and 1980s, including the construction of Hung Hom Railway Station and the reconstruction of the Sing Kung Cho Tong Temple in Tai Po.

The company's chairman is occupied by Dr. Alexander Law who is the eldest son of Mr. Lo Shiu Tong presently.
